ICRealtime How-to Notes 96042
Hitachi Jumper Settings
[This note applies to all
ICR Flex and Pro series DVRs]
Note: In
the picture, the number represents the step number in the walkthrough. This
note only applies to Hitachi brand hard drives only.
Step 1: Look towards the back of the Hitachi hard drive you’re going to be installing. You should see the jumper pin outs in
between the IDE pin outs and power (Molex) adapter.
Step 2: Depending on how many hard drives you’re
installing determines what jumper settings you have to use for each one. For
instance if you’re installing only one hard drive and have no other hard drives
already installed, you can simply set your jumper setting just to “master”
since its by itself. If you have more then one hard drive you’re installing,
you will have to use a “master” and “slave” setup. In this fashion you will
have two hard drives utilizing one IDE channel having one set to “master” and
the other set to “slave” for the jumpers.
Step 3: Below is the configuration of a “master”
jumper pin out.

Step 4: Below is
configuration of a “slave” jumper pin out.

Step 5: You will be physically done with setting up
your hard drives at this point. For further instructions on finishing the
install for a Flex series DVR or Pro series DVR, please refer to our other
walkthroughs.
