Related Camera Problems
[This note applies to all
ICR series cameras]
In this How-To, we will be
displaying examples of cameras that are experiencing less than prime
conditions. All of these examples should be fairly easy to remedy.
IR Reflection

This is a problem that is
exclusive to cameras with IR technology. During night time, you will see
a ghostly image, specks, or lines that appear in a bright white. In this
case, the actual housing of the camera was loose, causing the IR LEDS to
reflect light back into the lens. When examining a camera with this effect, be
sure to check the surrounding inside of the camera for any “out of place” IRs or any objects that could be reflecting them.
Foreign Objects

This is an example of a foreign
object obstructing the camera. In this case, it’s actually a spider web
over the housing of the camera. The silk, however small it may be, is
still reflecting a noticeable amount of light into the camera, and has
drastically changed the display of the camera. Other common foreign
objects include dust particles, water condensation, or grease from fingers.
Object Obtrusion

Glass/Lens Haze

The issues above could be
dealt with by simply taking the camera down for proper cleaning and
examination. Be sure when cleaning either the lens or enclosed casing (glass)
to use an approved solution that won’t leave a residue behind.
Electrical Interference

This
particular camera is experiencing more severe symptoms than the previous snap
shots. The actual image is beginning to tear at this point. It
appears the actual sensor of the camera has been damaged at this point due to electrical
interference. Please note this is an extreme example, and a rare
occurrence for installed cameras. If you are experiencing results like
this please contact your local authorized dealer.
Electrical Interference/Grounding Issue

Pictured above is similar to
what’s described in the previous picture where some sort of electrical/wire run
issue is present. The issues above could be directly dealt with by simply
checking the wiring runs, the condition of the power the camera is receiving,
proper connection/grounding, and so forth. If exposed to these conditions
for to long of a period, the camera could have improper issues or totally fail
in the future.
